Baby Quilts

One of my favorite outlets for stress relief is "arts & crafts" as Ben calls it. I really enjoy coming up with crafty projects & sewing in general. However, with two little ones, my "me-time" is few & far between. And when I do get an hour here or there, or the occasional evening when the kiddos are in bed & Ben is tinkering in the man-cave, I like a project that I can complete in that time frame. Instant gratification.

Recently, I found a couple quilt kits that were from my Fabric Editions days. These kits include pre-coordinated fabrics in cotton, flannel, satin & plush to create a cute baby blanket.

I had intentions of making these for the boys back when each was born but that obviously never happened. So I decided to dust off my sewing machine & make it happen.

I started with Weston's, which took me about 3 hours on Saturday evening to complete. Its pretty small (30x36) but perfect for him to play on now & eventually drag around. Though not perfect, I was pleased at how it turned out.

I didn't plan on making Jackson's until a later date but once he caught wind of Westie's new blanket, he wouldn't stop asking me where his new blanket was...over & over again. So while he was at school on Tuesday, I made him one. Since he's bigger, I modified the pattern & made it a good bit larger by adding fabric from my stash and using a different flannel print for the backing. Once again, not perfect but it did look more square after I pressed it again. But not bad for a few hours work.

My sewing goes in phases; I'll be super-sewing-girl for a few weeks then take a hiatus for a while. So now that I'm back at it, I need some project ideas. Suggestions??
